McCormick, Titcomb pace Dutchwomen in 65-46 loss to Vassar

SCHENECTADY, NY – Senior forward Emily Haeuser (South Portland, ME) posted the double double with game highs of 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead Vassar College to a 65-46 Liberty League women's basketball victory at Union College Friday night at the Viniar Athletic Center. The Brewers improved to 8-12 overall and 4-6 in the league while the Dutchwomen fell to 6-15 overall and 4-7 in the league.

 

Sophomore forward Kristyn Tempora (Marlboro, NJ) scored 15 points with three assists and three rebounds and sophomore guard Brittany Parks (Escondido, CA) added 15 points. Vassar swept the season series after posting its first win over Union at home earlier this season. The Brewers shot 58% for the game, including a blistering 69% in the second half when they made 11 of 16 shots. Both teams had 39 rebounds.

 

Lauren McCormick led the Dutchwomen with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Rachel Titcomb had a team best 10 rebounds, her third straight game with double figure boards. She also had nine points. Three Dutchwomen had six points each, and Union was held to 26% shooting for the game despite forcing 21 turnovers and having only 11 for the game.

 

Vassar had a 29-24 lead at the half, but quickly opened things up in the second stanza. In a span of 5:50 to open the half, the Brewers went on a 13-2 run for a 42-26 lead after a jumper by Carolyn Crampton (Reading, MA).Vassar led by as many as 17 at 47-30 with 11:18 remaining and the Duchwomen got no closer then 12 the rest of the contest.

 

Union hosts RPI tomorrow at 2 p.m. for “Think Pink Day,” as the Dutchwomen will take donations throughout the game for breast cancer awareness. Vassar is at Skidmore Saturday at 2 p.m.
