Box Score

SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College women's soccer team had nine student-athletes contribute goals with sophomore midfielder Taylor Bresnahan leading the way with three in a 13-0 win against SUNY Maritime on Wednesday evening. The victory was the first of the year for the Dutchwomen, who improved to 1-0 on the season. The visiting Privateers fell to 0-1 in the season opener for both teams.

The Dutchwomen tied the school record for goals in a game, set on September 12, 1998 when Union defeated Manhattanville at home, 13-0, to open that season. It is the fourth time in program history that the Dutchwomen scored 10 or more goals.

Bresnahan tallied three consecutive goals at 24:36, 29:04, and 31:12 of the first half, capping off her first career hat trick on a breakaway from the left wing to give the Dutchwomen a commanding 7-0 lead.

Freshman defender Meghan Cole scored her first career goal at 39:16, and sophomore midfielder Shelby Marks followed with her first tally for Union at 42:15 for a 9-0 lead at the half.

Freshman forward Melissa Mansfield, junior forward Jessica Strang, senior midfielder Pearl Jurist-Schoen, and freshman forward Melissa Scinto each scored in the second half for the Dutchwomen, with Mansfield and Scinto netting their first career goals.

Senior forward Katie McLean opened the scoring for Union at 12:37, finishing off a corner kick in front of the net. McLean would add another tally at 18:42 off a feed from Strang.

Strang added her first goal of the season at 19:01, which was followed by Jennifer Mansfield's first career goal at 19:21 to give the Dutchwomen a 4-0 lead.

Strang and McLean led all scorers with four points each (two goals and two assists for both).
