SCHENECTADY, NY --- Anna Dobrzynski and Allison Beardsley provided all the scoring with two goals each to lead the University of Rochester field hockey team to a 4-0 Liberty League victory over Union College at a rainy Frank Bailey Field Saturday. The Yellowjackets improved to 11-5 overall and 2-3 in league play, while the Dutchwomen fell to 2-11 overall and 0-4 in he league.
The Yellowjackets recorded 28 shots while allowing 12, and had an eight to six advantage in corners. Beardsley also added an assist, as did Belle Hoagland, and Madison Wagner made seven stops in net. Union's
Molly McCune stopped four in the first half and
Corey Hedges made 10 saves in the second 35 minutes.
Caroline Moran led Union with four shots and
Darcy Berger had three for the hosts.
Dobrzynski opened the scoring just 4:52 into the game. She took a pass from Hoagland on the run and shot it in from the middle range on the Union net. Beardsley picked up a loose ball six yards out in front and drove a low shot in at 7:15 for a 2-0 lead. Rochester took a 3-0 lead that held up at the end of the first half. Beardsley's second of the day and 11th of the season came at 27:39. She took a drive from 15 yards out that went in on the right side through traffic.
Dobrzynski notched her second of the afternoon and her 18th of the year at 69:07. Beardsley sent a close pass in front and Dobrzynski one-timed a high shot into the cage for the 4-0 score and eventual final.
Union continues a long homestand next weekend. The Dutchwomen host Skidmore Friday at 4 p.m. and St. Lawrence Saturday at 2 p.m. to close out regular season league play.
