No. 16 women's soccer draws 1-1 against Clarkson

SCHENECTADY, NY – Sophomore midfielder Laura Snowden scored to help No. 16 Union (12-2-1, 2-2-1 Liberty League) earn a 1-1 tie against Clarkson (7-4-1, 1-4-1 Liberty League) at College Park.

Clarkson's Marissa Cook scored the game-tying goal at 80:33 on a broken play to help the Golden Knights earn the tie. An initial service into the box was blocked by the Union defense, but the ball bounced right to Cook, who made one cut and finished low at the near post to tie the game.

Snowden gave Union the lead earlier in the half at the 57:20 mark. Junior forward Jennifer Mansfield fired a shot from the corner of the 18-yard box that was blocked. The ball bounced out front to Snowden, who finished into an open net to give Union the lead.

With the weather conditions deteriorating, Union dominated possession in both overtime periods but the Dutchwomen were unable to score the deciding goal.

For the game, Union outshout Clarkson 20-7 and held a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks. Union goalkeeper Mia Simone made three saves in the contest, while Clarkson goalkeeper Kim Kenline stopped six shots.

Union will take on Rensselaer on Senior Day on Wednesday at College Park in a contest that begins at 7:00 p.m.
