BOX SCORE

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.
- The Union College field hockey team fell to Wheaton 2-1 in overtime on Saturday at College Park. Sophomore Jenna Rocha tallied the game-winner with minutes left in the extra frame.  Wheaton ends their regular season at 10-8 while the Dutchwomen ended at 2-15.

After receiving a feed from senior Emily Asack, Rocha blasted a shot past freshman goalkeeper Corey Hedges to earn the win for the Lyons.  It was Rocha's ninth goal of the season.

Asack put Wheaton on the board first with an unassisted goal at the 12 minute mark.  The Lyons drove the ball back up the field after a corner kick, and then quickly reversed for a sneak offensive attack.

Union's offense, producing 20 shots, worked relentlessly to gain an edge on their competition.  Freshman Allison Troy and sophomore Nicole Merigliano were playmakers for the Dutchwomen.  Troy single handedly brought the ball up the field into Wheaton's zone at the 25 minute mark, while Merigliano nearly scored off of a pass from senior Isabel Zellweger.

Just under seven minutes into the second half, junior Caroline Moran would tie the match at one with her eighth goal of the season.  The play was initially set up off of a corner taken by Merigliano.  Junior Trista Johnson gained possession and whipped around to feed Moran a quick pass, allowing her to surprise Wheaton goalkeeper Ellie Massengill.

Union's momentum continued into overtime, with multiple scoring chances coming from four corners.  Sophomore Cate Degen had an excellent defensive game, preventing the Lyons from scoring several times in the extra period.  However, despite firing off six shots, the Lyons would claim the overtime victory over the Dutchwomen.

Massengill made 10 saves on the match while Hedges and sophomore Molly McCune combined to tally four saves.

Union seniors Natalie Engel, Kelsey MacElroy and Isabel Zellweger played their final games for the Dutchwomen.
