OBLESKILL, NY -- The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball fell to visiting Union College on Saturday afternoon by a score of 65-54 margin in non-league action at the Iorio Gymnasium. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 2-4 overall on the year while the Dutchwomen improve to 3-1 on the season with the victory.
The Dutchwomen were led by sophomore forward
Brittney Kenney, who scored 16 points and by junior guard
Shayla Madden, who tossed in 14 points to go with eight rebounds. Union also received a strong outing from senior guard
Mary Donohue with 10 points, five assists and three rebounds.
A slow start cost Cobleskill as the Orange & Black fell behind 38-25 at the half which led to them playing catch-up throughout the second half eventually falling prey to the Dutchwomen's prowess from the free throw line where Union converted on 18-of-27 attempts as opposed to Cobleskill's 7-for-8 effort from the charity stripe.
Fighting Tiger junior forward Heidi Anderson tossed in a game high 17 points to pace the Cobleskill attack while freshman center Kady Porterfield added a season high of 14 points on the afternoon. Chelcy Moore had with eight points, 12 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocked shots.
Union is at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Wednesday, December 7 at 5:30 p.m.
