SCHENECTADY, NY -- Felix Llanos scored 18 points and the Clarkson men's basketball team shot 57% in the second half for a 66-55 comeback victory at Union's Viniar Athletic Center Friday night. The Golden Knights improved to 4-9 in the Liberty League and evened the season mark to 12-12 while the Dutchmen fell to 10-14 overall and 2-11 in the league.
Nate Uline scored 12 points and Jonathan Hood pulled down seven rebounds for the Golden Knights, who trailed by nine at halftime after shooting 28% in the first half. The guests had a 34-30 rebounding advantage and had just nine turnovers.
Drew Goldstein scored 15 points and Keith Callies tallied 11 off the bench for the Dutchmen. Matt Covucci had nine rebounds and Keven Donohue dished out four assists. Union shot 43% for the game.
Union led 31-22 at halftime. The Dutchmen made it a 12 point lead on a three point play by Donohue 27 seconds into the second half. But the Knights went on a 18-6 run to tie the game at 40-40 with 11:06 left capped by a layup by Marcus Charlton. Union was up by three with 7:42 left on a three pointer by Callies. But Clarkson went on another run, this one 17-7, for a 60-51 lead with 2:14 left to take charge. Union got as close as eight with 1;08 remaining.
The Dutchmen close out the 2010-11 season Saturday at 4 p.m. vs. St. Lawrence. The three senior captains, Covucci, Goldstein and Matt Rogers, will be honored prior to the opening tip.
