Lauren McCormick recorded game highs of 22 points and 10 rebounds and freshman
Marissa Ray added 12 points to lead Union College to a 64-46 Liberty League women's basketball win over visiting Hamilton College at the Viniar Athletic Center Saturday afternoon. The Dutchwomen remained in sole posession of first place in the league at 7-3 (12-6 overall), while the Continentals fell to 7-10 overall and 1-8 in the league.
McCormick made 10 of 15 free throws and was six of nine from the floor while pulling down seven of her 10 boards on the defensive side. It was her seventh double double of the season and fifth in eight games. Ray was four for four from the line.
Leah Pepe added 10 points and was also four for four at the line.
Mary Donohue led the Dutchwomen with five assists and three steals. Union shot 35% but had another big day on the glass with 44 rebounds while allowing just 23.
Hamilton was led by Madie Harlem, who scored 12 points, and Lisa Olszewski, who tallied 11. Blue Sanders had a game high six assists for the guests.
Union led 30-20 at halftime, taking the lead at 3-0 and never relinquishing it. The Dutchwomen opened up the lead in the second half and were up by as many as 21 at 53-32 with 7:44 left.
Union has completed a five game home stand and plays next weekend at Vassar Friday, February 11 and at RPI Saturday, February 12.
