Donohue, Dzanko help Dutchmen down Skidmore, 70-67



SCHENECTADY, NY -- Keven Donohue had 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists and Rusmir Dzanko scored 14 points for the Union men's basketball team in a 70-67 win over Skidmore at the Viniar Athletic Center Friday night. Union is now 11-6 on the year and 4-5 in the league while the Thoroughbreds stand 11-5 overall and 5-2 in league play.

Joe Mason scored 12 points and Terell Winney added eight for the Dutchmen, who came back from a 39-35 halftime deficit. Unon shot 40% and forced 17 Thoroughbred turnovers and recorded 10 steals.

Melvis Langyinuo led Skidmore with 15 points and Gerard O'Shea had 13 with seven boards. Connor merrill also scored 13 and O'Shea dished out four assists. Skidmore shot 45% for the night and had a 36-30 rebounding edge.

The visitors were up by eight just 1:58 into the second half on a jumper by Kyle Clark. But Union went on a 11-3 run in the next 6:51 to tie it at 46-46. Union later took the lead for the first time in the half at 56-54 with 5:54 left on a Donohue layup. Skidmore's last lead was at 3:18, 59-58 after two free throws by O'Shea. But Union had a six point lead at 66-60 with 26 seconds left, and held on for the victory.

The Dutchmen host another local league rival Saturday, as RPI comes to the Viniar for a 4 p.m. game.
