ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – The Union College men's basketball team used a 13-2 run over the last five minutes of the first half en route to an 82-46 rout of Bard College in Liberty League play on Friday night.
Union (13-6 overall, 6-5 Liberty League) dominated almost all of the game, building a huge rebounding advantage by halftime (23-12) and erasing any doubt of the game's outcome by extending it's 18-point halftime lead to 23 in the first five minutes of the second half.
Union's leading scorer, senior Keven Donohue had early foul trouble and ended up playing just 20 minutes, but it didn't matter. Junior Joe Mason had 19 points, five rebounds and six assists; Keith Callies added 15 points and five rebounds; and Rusmir Dzanko had 14 points, six rebounds and three assists. Donohue finished with eight points and nine rebounds for the Dutchmen, who finished the game with a 48-27 rebounding advantage.
Union shot 57 percent from the field in the second half and 50 percent for the game. The Dutchmen next take on Vassar on Saturday afternoon at 4.
Bard (3-15, 1-9) got 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks from freshman Jose Canario. The Raptors host Skidmore on Saturday afternoon at 4.
