Emily McGrail named to IWLCA Empire Region All Star Team

2012 IWLCA All Regional Teams

The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association has honored 224 student-athletes in NCAA Division III with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2012.

These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on May 24. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 16, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa. 

Union College freshman midfielder Emily McGrail was selected to the Empire Region Second Team. She was one of seven players selected from the Liberty League. McGrail was a four time Liberty League Rookie of the Week, the most weekly rookie honors for any freshman this season.

McGrail was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year in 2012. She led Union in goals (47), points (53), shots (87) and caused turnovers (16). McGrail was tied for fourth in the league in goals per game and was sixth in points per game. She had seven goals vs. Vassar, and five vs. St. Lawrence. McGrail scored in every game this season, and had 10 shots vs. RIT with nine vs. Vassar and also William Smith. She had six ground balls and five draw controls vs. Skidmore, and scored four in the one goal win over RPI, the Engineers' only defeat during the regular season.
