SCHENECTADY, NY – No. 11 Union men's lacrosse (11-3, 5-1 Liberty League) earned a spot in the Liberty League Championship game with a dramatic come-from-behind 10-9 win over No. 19 St. Lawrence (12-3, 4-2 Liberty League) at Frank Bailey Field in a semifinal contest.
Union, the No. 2 seed in the Liberty League Tournament, will travel to No. 1 seed RIT to face the Tigers on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. RIT advanced to the championship game by way of a 12-4 win over No. 4 seed Clarkson.
Sophomore attack
Rob Santangelo (goal, three assists) scored the game-winning goal with 2:15 to play in the fourth quarter to put Union ahead for the first time in the contest.
With St. Lawrence on a man-up attack in the final seconds of the contest, senior goalie
Sean Aaron (seven saves) made a point blank stop on St. Lawrence's Kyle Jacobson to preserve the win for the Dutchmen.
Senior attack
Ted McKenna and senior midfielder
Ethan Meyer each had three goals and an assist for the Dutchmen, while St. Lawrence was led by Matt Pope, Tucker Garfield and Drake Paul, who each had two goals in the contest.
Union, which trailed 9-6 at the half, and 9-4 late in the second quarter, rallied for six unanswered goals to earn the victory.
McKenna and senior attack
Nolan Connors scored late in the second quarter to cut the St. Lawrence lead to three at the end of a wide open first half.
Ethan Meyer scored with 2:05 remaining in the third quarter, and freshman attack
Adam Rosenthal added a man-up goal with 44 seconds to go in the third quarter to cut the St. Lawrence lead to 9-8.
Both teams traded chances in the final quarter before Meyer scored from 10 yards out with 4:37 to play to tie the game. Santangelo scored the game-winner from in tight, beating Jack Nuland (three saves). St. Lawrence goalie Jeff Goeke, who started the game in net, made three saves for the Saints.
St. Lawrence started the game with three quick scores from Garfield, Paul, and Pope to put the Saints up with 9:18 to play in the first quarter. Both teams traded goals until a three goal run by St. Lawrence early in the second quarter gave the Saints an 8-3 lead with 7:32 to play in the first half. Freshman goalie

Meyer's first goal of the afternoon at 6:35 ended the St. Lawrence run, but Cody Danforth quickly scored just over a minute later to give St. Lawrence a five goal lead once again, setting up the Union comeback late in the second half.
Union held a 36-31 advantage on shots, including a 20-10 margin in the second half. The Dutchmen led 34-33 on ground balls, with junior midfielder
