MIDDLEBURY, VT – Union snaps a five-game winning streak as the Dutchwomen fall to the Panthers by a score of 3-1 in Pepin Gym Tuesday evening.
After winning a tightly contested first set, Middlebury came back with a convincing 25-15 win in the second. The Panthers edged out a 25-21 victory in the third before rattling off seven straight fourth set points on their way to the victory.
Amy Hart led Middlebury with 13 kills, followed by Megan Jarchow with nine and Piper Underbrink with seven and a .500 hitting percentage. Julia Gibbs had 19 digs in the match to go along with her 32 assists, while Caitlin Barrett added 15 kills. Middlebury earned 14 block assists in the contest, led by Madeline Firestone with five.
The Dutchwomen will be looking to rebound as they are the host team of the Union Invitational this coming weekend. Union will be playing SUNY Brockport and Utica on Friday, September 14 at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, September 15, Union will face Hartwick and SUNY Cortland at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
