ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – A 13-0 run over a seven-minute stretch late in the first half broke open a close game and led the Union College women's basketball team to a 48-29 victory over Bard College in a Liberty League game on Friday night.
It was a 10-9 game midway through the first half when the Dutchwomen put together a run that made it 35-17 at halftime. The Dutchwomen (10-5, 5-2 Liberty League) shot a scalding 62 percent from the field in the first half, led by Shayla Madden, who made 3-of-5 three-pointers and had 11 points after 20 minutes.
Bard (7-8, 1-5 Liberty League) never threatened in the second half. The Raptors shot 21 percent from the field for the game. Freshman Tytravia Riley led Bard with nine points and 12 rebounds.
Co-captains Madden and Kelsey McDonald each finished with 13 points, and Brittney Kenney led the winners with nine rebounds.
