Kate Thompson had a game high 18 points and junior forward
Kristin Schmidt had a team high seven rebounds as the Union College women's basketball team won for the seventh straight game, 81-48 over Bard at the Viniar Athletic Center Saturday. The Dutchwomen are now 4-0 atop the Liberty League and 8-3 overall. The Raptors now stand 0-2 in league play and 6-5 overall.
Thompson made eight of 11 shots and
Kelsey McDonald had six rebounds along with eight assists, which was a game high which also tied her career high.
Amy Loya and
Brittney Kenney added eight points each. The Dutchwomen shot an impressive 53%, a season best, and outrebounded the Raptors, 48-27.
Union has a seven game winning streak for the second time in three seasons, last done in 2010-11.
Tytravia Riley led Bard with 17 points and eight boards and Liz Freud had 11 points with Bianka Bell scoring eight. Bard did force 21 turnovers but had 16, and was held to 32% shooting for the day.
Union took control in the first half and led by as many as 20 points twice, and finished the half with a 40-21 lead. The Dutchwomen got up by as many as 33 points and 66-33 with 9:45 left after two free throws by Kenney. They matched that lead when
Nora Swidler scored the final points of the game on a jumper with nine seconds left for the 81-48 final. The Dutchwomen were able to play 16 players in the contest, and 14 of those players scored.
The Dutchwomen are back home next weekend for games vs. Liberty League local rivals Skidmore (Friday at 6 p.m.) and RPI (Saturday at 2 p.m.)
