Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's ice hockey defeated by Dartmouth 6-0

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Zoe Brennan and Ailish Forfar each had a pair of goals as the Big Green gave the Dutchwomen a 6-0 defeat at Messa Rink Saturday afternoon.

Dartmouth started the game shooting as the Big Green quickly put up 18 shots in the first period. Netminder Shenae Lundberg kept the offense of the scoreboard momentarily as her save tally quickly reached double-digits. The Big Green was able to get one by the ECAC Goaltender of the Month as Lindsey Allen dialed up a slapshot from the top of the offensive zone on the power play. Allen was set up by Oliva Whitford and Karlee Odland to give Dartmouth the 1-0 edge while on the power play.  Zoe Brennan was able to double the score as she found space in the slot with passes from Jenna Hobeika and Reagan Fischer. Just moments later Ailish Forfar put in the third score for the Big Green as she tallied her second goal of the 2012-13 campaign.

Entering the second period, the Dartmouth attack did not let up, as Sam Zeiss was able to extend the Big Green lead to four as she beat Lundberg glove side near the net with passes from Jessica Gagner and Allen. Towards the end of the second, Alex-Tancrell Fontaine was issued a five-minute major for hitting from behind as she was ejected from the match. Dartmouth was able to capitalize on the major as Forfar tallied Dartmouth's second power play goal of the game.

Brennan added the Big Green's sixth goal as she escaped away from the Dutchwomen defense and hit an Olivia Whitford pass point-blank pass Lundberg to make it 6-0. Madeline Dahl came in relief for Lundberg as she tallied 33 saves in 53:38 played. Dahl stopped all six shots she faced including a stellar breakaway save near the end of regulation. Lindsey Holdcroft stopped all 17 shots to ensure the 6-0 shutout as Dartmouth came away with the victory.

Holdcroft improves to 7-4-2 while Lundberg was credited with the loss and falls to 4-8-3. The Big Green outshot the Dutchwomen 45-17 and held the advantage on the draw 30-18.

Brennan earns her first collegiate goal and her first two-goal game of her career. Forfar also registers her first two-game of her collegiate career as well.
