SCHENECTADY, NY - The Union College women's ice hockey team welcomes the Providence Friars to the confines of Messa Rink on Friday Oct. 4 and Saturday Oct. 5 to kick off the college hockey season in Schenectady, NY.
This will be the fourthmeeting between the two programs. The Dutchwomen are 0-3 all time against the Friars with the closest game being a 1-2 loss on Nov. 28 2010 at Providence.
Last Time Out
The Dutchwomen traveled to Storrs, CT for their first game of the season against the UConn Huskies. Union opened their season with a 3-2 win over the Huskies, marking the second season in a row they opened with a opening-season win against UConn.
· Union opened up the scoring with only 8 seconds remaining in the first period as sophomore

Bryanne Panchuk ripped a short-side wrister past Huskies goaltender Elaine Chuli to give the Dutchwomen the lead.

Maddy Norton tallied the game-winning goal with a heavy slapshot from the point 16:27 into the second period. Freshman
Kathryn Davis tallied her first career point on the primary assist while
Courtney Turner picked up her second assist of the game.

Shenae Lundberg stood strong between the pipes for the Dutchwomen after stopping 27 of the 29 shots she faced.
· The Dutchwomen special teams were great going 1-3 (.333) on the power play and killing off the only Huskies power play.
Last Time vs. the Friars
The Dutchwomen were blanked by the Friars 4-0 on November 25, 2012 at the Schneider Arena in Providence, RI.
· The Dutchwomen outshot the Friars 24-17 for the game but could not beat then freshman goaltender Sarah Bryant

Shenae Lundberg made 13 saves on 17 shots.

Rhianna Kurio was 7-9 on faceoffs for the game.
Scouting Providence
The Friars finished 15-16-5 last season and were 4-2-1 against ECAC opponents.
· The Friars return three of their top five leading scorers from 2012-13, Haley Frade (Jr.) (13-18-31), 2012-13 Hockey East All-Rookie Team Molly Illikainen (So.) (12-18-30) and Corinne Buie (Sr.) (15-11-26).
· The Providence defense is led by seniors Maggie Pendleton (registered a career high 19 points (3-16-19) in 2012-13) and Rebecca Morse (registered a career high 21 points (5-16-21) and earned All-Hockey East Honorable mention in 2012-13)
· The Friars return all three of their goaltenders from last year, sophomore Sarah Bryant (10-11-4, 3.15 GAA, .882 Sv. %) , who shutout the Dutchwomen a year ago, senior Riley Nina (4-5-1, 3.87 GAA, .868 Sv. %) and sophomore Allie Morse (1-0-0, 3.57 GAA, .812 Sv. %).
