Dutchwomen fall in Liberty League Championship to #23 Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. -  The Union College women's volleyball team fell in the Liberty League Championship match to #23 Clarkson 3-0 (25-13, 25-8, 25-12) on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchwomen finished the season in second place in the Liberty League standings and now await a decision on an NCAA at-large bid.

Union battled hard in the first half of the set but eventually fell to the Golden Knights in large part to a six-point run after a Union timeout with the score at 18-12. The Dutchwomen only managed one more point after the timeout and then fell 25-13.

The Dutchwomen couldn't find their groove in the second set as they started out slowly, falling behind early 11-2. They couldn't recover from the early Clarkson onslaught despite taking a timeout when down 15-3. They eventually fell in the set 25-8.

The Dutchwomen continued to put pressure on the Golden Knights in the third set but their net play was too much to overcome. The Dutchwomen eventually fell 25-12.

Freshman Morgan Clark, junior Rajpreet Dhaliwal and sophomore Lauren Woods led the Dutchwomen attack with 3 kills apiece. Freshman Amanda Price tallied 10 digs and seven assists on the afternoon. Woods once again led the Dutchwomen in blocks with two.

Senior defensive specialist Marissa Vollmer and Clark were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts over the weekend.

Union finishes the season with a record of 22-10 and currently awaiting a decision from the NCAA for an at-large bid for the NCAA DIII Volleyball Tournament.
