McGrail scores four goals to lead women's lacrosse to a 16-5 win over Skidmore



SCHENECTADY, NY – Sophomore attack Emily McGrail had four goals, freshman Maggie Comiskey  had a goal and three assists and senior midfielder Heather Fraser had two goals and two assists to lead women's lacrosse (7-6, 5-3 Liberty League) to 16-5 win over Skidmore (3-12, 2-6 Liberty League) at Frank Bailey Field.
 
Freshman midfielder Jessica Farland and senior midfielder Brittany Fraser each had three goals and senior midfielder Tory Cameron had a pair of goals for Union.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Kim Grinhaus made eight saves in net for the Dutchwomen, while her counterpart Shelby Witheford made five stops for Skidmore.
 
Emma Harris and Spencer Morgan each had two goals to lead the Skidmore offense.
 
Union outshot Skidmore 31-19 for the game and held a 26-21 advantage on ground balls.
 
Union built a 10-2 lead in the first half, finishing off the frame with five consecutive goals. Cameron scored both of her goals in the first 11:00 of the half to help Union build a 5-1 lead at 19:49.
 
Skidmore's Morgan answered with a goal from just outside the goal crease at 16:15, but McGrail scored twice in less than a minute, first on a free position shot at 13:40, and again at 12:50 on a shot over the shoulder of Witheford to kick off the 5-0 run at the end of the first half.
 
Union quickly built a 10-goal lead in the second half on Farland's third goal of the game at 26:59 and Heather Fraser's second at 25:40 to make it 12-2. After Skidmore's Harris scored at 24:21, Brittany Fraser notched her third goal of the game on a feed from Comiskey at 23:51 to make it 13-3.
 
McGrail would score her third and fourth goals of the game at 16:52 and 9:47 to round out the scoring for the Dutchwomen.
 
Union will close out the regular season at Frank Bailey Field tomorrow against Liberty League-leading RPI in a 2:00 p.m. contest
