Hall-Risko tallies twice in 6-0 win over Bard

SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College men's soccer team blanked Bard College 6-0 in their first Liberty League win on Saturday afternoon at College Park Stadium. Sophomore forward Nicholas Hall-Risko tallied two goals to lead the Dutchmen offense.

The Dutchmen were quick to strike in the first half when sophomore forward Carl Faber tallied his seventh goal of the season from senior Nick Vozzella. The goal was scored at the 6:46 minute-mark.

Vozzella wasn't satisfied with just an assist for the afternoon because at the 26:35 minute-mark Vozzella blasted a shot past Bard goalkeeper, Daniel Gagne for his second tally of the season.  Senior Jake Soodek, who centered the beautiful pass to Vozzella, registered the assist on the play that gave the Dutchmen a 2-0 lead.

Hall-Risko quickly widened the lead to four after tallying two goals in just over two minutes. His first tally came at the 37:22 minute-mark when William Poetzsch headed a Matthew Christal throw-in to Hall-Risko who buried it into the back of the net. Hall-Risko then tallied his third goal of the season by burying shot to the top right of the net off a Christal cross. The goal was scored at the 39:52 minute-mark and gave the Dutchmen a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.

The second half was marked by both teams clearing their benches. Junior goalkeeper Andrew Rouff saw his second action of the season as he played the entire second half for the Dutchmen.

Freshman midfielder Zachary Kimelheim and junior forward Tyler DeWaltoff both tallied their first collegiate goals in the second half to give the Dutchmen a commanding 6-0 lead.

Bard goalkeeper Daniel Gagne made four saves down the stretch, including a sprawling save off a Faber header, to keep the score at 6-0.

Junior goalkeeper Ryan Carter improved to 8-0-1 on the day after registering one save in the first half. Gagne made five saves on the day after facing a total of 23 Dutchmen shots.

Union is back in action on Friday, October 4 when they travel to Clarkson for a 4 pm Liberty League match with the Golden Knights.
