Former Union Student-Athletes Participating in Minerva Fellows Program

SCHENECTADY, NY - Three former Union College student athletes are currently representing the college around the globe through the Minerva Fellows Program. Samantha Muratori formally of the women's tennis team and Ilyena Kozain and Miriam Hammer previously of the women's crew squad were selected to the program in June and are currently in the midst of providing a difference in less fortunate areas of the world.

The Minerva Fellows Program shapes that vision by exposing young Union graduates to the human side of poverty and by teaching them to harness their entrepreneurial skills and talents for lasting, positive impact. While many students care deeply about those who are less fortunate, they know little about the opportunities that exist to help.  This program provides that opportunity to make a difference.

Muratori is in Estero de Platano, Ecuador at the moment, you can follow only with her journey via her blog. Kozain is in the village of Dgeye in Uganda and is documenting her adventures here. And Hammer is living in Siem Reap, Cambodia and is providing insight on her journey here.

These former former Union student-athletes were amongst 11 members from the Class of 2014 to be selected to the Minerva Fellows Program. Other Fellows are in Jinan, China, Bagru, India, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and Johannesburg, South Africa.
