MORRISVILLE, NY -- Seven different goal scorers tallied for Union College in a 7-2 non-league field hockey victory at Morrisville State Saturday. The Dutchwomen wrap up the 2014 season with a record of 6-11, while the Mustangs fell to 3-14.
The Dutchwomen had a season high 39 shots on net to match the season high in goals. Union outshot the hosts 39-18 including 21-2 in the second half. Union had a 10-3 advantage in shots.
Union opened the scoring just 2:22 into the contest on an Allison Trooy goal, set up by
Hannah Najar. Sandra Clark tied it for the Mustangs at 3:13 with an Allyson Flurer assist, But Union took the lead for good at 6:01, as
Alexa Steriti tallied on an unassisted goal.
Jessie Mulvey made it 3-1 at 12:12 on an unassited goal, but Clark scored with just 1:03 left in the first half and it was 3-2 Union at the first intermission.
Mulvey fed
Sarah Medd 2:43 into the second half, and
Bretta Beer scored her first career goal for the Dutchwomen at 39:29.
Hannah Madden got an assist from
Angelina Stewart for a 6-2 lead and Stewart closed out the scoring at 64:05.
Laura Aptowitz made seven saves in 35 minutes of work while
Danika Hornick stopped two for the Dutchwomen. Meaghan Mack made a save in 7:52 of play in the Mustang nets and Kaitlyn Baker had 11 saves in over 62 minutes of work.
The game marked the final contest for the Union careers of
Hannah Najar and
Allison Troy.
