BABSON PARK, MA -- The Union College men's lacrosse team won its second straight road contest with a 9-5 victory over Babson College in non-conference action from MacDowell Field. The nine goals was also a season high for coach
Paul Wehrum's squad.
Rob Santangelo scored three goals and
Charlie Ross added a pair of markers to help Union improve to 2-1 on the season. Â Babson fell to 1-3.
Union fell behind 2-1 after the first quarter before reeling off six straight goals, while at the same time keeping Babson off the scoreboard in the second and third quarters.
Offensively,
Greg Mooney and
Richard Gregory both scored goals to move into a share of the team goal-scoring lead (4) with Santangelo. Â
Jon Andrews and freshman
Peter Richardson also found the back of the net.
Connor Hall went 11-for-16 on faceoffs and the Dutchmen won the battle of ground balls (42-29) in a contest that saw both teams generate 29 shots.
Union now prepares for a tough week ahead, as two top-10 teams visit Bailey Field. Â Union will conduct its home opener against ninth-ranked Wesleyan on Wednesday (March 12) before hosting 10th-ranked Springfield on Saturday (March 15).
