SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Union matched its season high for goals in posting a 19-7 win over Vassar in Liberty League action from Frank Bailey Field. The Dutchmen are undefeated at home (6-0) this season and improved to 11-2 overall, 4-1 in LL play. Vassar is now 6-8 overall, 1-4 in the Liberty. Union wore yellow uniforms in support of
Ewing Sarcoma awareness.Charlie Ross scored four goals while
Peter Richardson and
Rob Santangelo added three goals apiece to lead the Dutchmen offensively. All told, 13 players figured in scoring.
The teams exchanged goals early in the opening quarter with Union holding a 4-2 lead with five minute remaining. Ross' first goal of the day, scored with 15 seconds left in the quarter, sparked five straight goals and an 11-1 run for the Dutchmen.
Paul Wehrum's squad finished with 35 shots on goal, 58 total for the game. The Dutchmen also held a 46-24 advantage in ground balls.
Saturday's game marked the last regular season home appearance for 13 seniors:
