Union Knocks Off Clarkson, 11-5, To Win Ninth Straight Game



POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Union won its ninth-straight game in defeating Clarkson, 11-5, in Liberty League action from Hantz Turf Field.  The 10th-ranked Dutchmen (9-1) have not lost since their season opener on March 1.

Goalkeeper Stefan Basile allowed just two first half goals in helping Union to a 3-2 halftime lead.  Union's offense exploded in the second half, producing eight goals as Paul Wehrum's club pulled away to improve to 2-0 in Liberty League play.

Adam Rosenthal led the offensive charge with four goals while Rob Santangelo scored twice and Richard Gregory added three assists. Santangelo leads the "U" in scoring with 23 points, followed by Gregory (22 points) and Nolan Stauffer (20 points), who tallied a goal and assist.

The Garnet and White also received goal contributions from Cameron Slatton and Jon Andrews and from freshmen Danny Kycia and Nicky Wright.

Basile finished with 11 saves and led the team with six ground balls.  Union finished with a 29-24 edge in shots, and won the ground balls battle, 37-25.  Connor Hall continued his domination in faceoffs, going 10-for-16.

Union will meet arch-rival Rensselaer next Saturday (April 12) at 1:00 p.m. at Frank Bailey Field.
