TROY, NY -- Eleni Wechsler pitched a complete game three hitter to lead the University of Rochester to a 5-0 victory over Union College in a Liberty League Tournament Game at RPI's Doris Robison Field Friday afternoon. The Yellowjackets, 24-11, now play RPi in the champioinship round Saturday while the Dutchwomen were elmiinated with a record of 22-13. Rochester has to win twice in the finals to secure the league's automatic NCAA bid.
Nina Korn had three hits and three RBIs to lead Rochester. Wechsler walked two and struck out five in the triumph. Union's
Allyson Staats giving up 12 hits. Union's hits were by

Dani Hennel and
Joanna Chalifoux.
Rochester opened the scoring in the first with an RBI single by Korn scoring Meghan Hennessy. They had two on in the second with two outs, threatening for more runs, but
Molly O'Brien made a fine diving catch in right field to end the innings. The Yellowjackets added a nother run in the third. Hennessy led off the third with a single and stole second. After a pop out, Wechsler singled up the middle to score Hennessy for a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth, with one out, Shelby Corning reached on a single to third base. An error on a fielder's choice by Tiffany White had Corning at second. Tayler Fravel doubled to left center socring Corning from second. One out later, Korn singled to shortstop scoring Fravel for a 4-0 Rochester lead. The Yellowjackets capepd off the scoring in the sixth. With two on and two out, Kron's single to right center plated Tiffany White for the 5-0 score.
Union had runners on first and second with two down in the sixth, but a drive by Staats was snagged by White in right field with a diving catch to end the inning.
Fravel added two hits and an RBI while Hennessy had two hits and two runs with her stolen base.
The game marked the end of the Union College careers of
Kristin Schmidt,
Aimee Palleschi and
Alyssa Wolejko.
