Dutchmen Post Third Straight Shutout in Win Over New Paltz

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Dutchmen posted their third straight shutout as they defeated SUNY-New Paltz 2-0 on Wednesday night. Carl Faber and Nicholas Hall-Risko provided the offense for the "U" in the victory.

Faber started things off in the 25th minute as the junior headed in the pass off the free kick by Andrew Fontaine. The goal was Faber's third of the season.

Hall-Risko doubled the Dutchmen lead in the 52nd minute as he fired it into the upper left hand corner of the net. Hall-Risko was set up on the play by Ethan Strauss as Strauss sent a long pass to Hall-Risko from near midfield to the just inside the 18. Hall-Risko struggled to collect the pass at first but was able to regain control of it, make a move around the Hawk defender and rifle it over the New Paltz goalkeeper's shoulder to give Union the 2-0 edge.

The New Paltz offense was only able to get 10 shots off against the Garnet and White defense in the contest with five of them being saved by Ryan Carter. With the shutout, Carter collects his third clean sheet of the season.

Union outshot the Hawks 15-10 and held the advantage in corner kicks, 6-1.

The Dutchmen will look to keep their three-game unbeaten streak alive as they start a stretch of five straight Liberty League matches beginning with a road tilt this Saturday with Bard College. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.
