ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – The Union College men's basketball team rallied from double-digit deficits twice in the second half but was edged by Bard, 82-79, in a Liberty League game on Friday night. Union fell to 9-10 overall, 3-7 in the Liberty League.

Bard (9-9, 4-5) came out bombing in the first half and made 11-of-15 three-pointers en route to a 50-36 halftime lead. The Dutchmen were still down 16 a few minutes into the second half before mounting the first of two major rallies.

A 15-4 run in just over four minutes trimmed Bard's advantage to 58-53 with 13:27 left in the game, but Bard responded with a run of its own and the deficit was 14 with 10:39 left. But Union wasn't done.

Another run, this one 14-5, cut the Raptors' lead to 72-67 with 6:24 to go. The lead stayed right about there until the final minute. A free throw from William Hython cut Bard's lead to 80-76 with 51 seconds left. After Bard freshman DeVahnte Mosley hit a pair of free throws to push it back to six, Deshon Burgess hit a three-pointer with 15 seconds left to make it 82-79.

Mosley went to the line with 14 seconds left and missed both. Union's Terell Winney got up a contested three with one second left, but it missed, and Bard survived. Burgess led all scorers with 27 points, 18 in the first half. Ryan Whelpley added 14 points, and Hython finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Bard got 18 points from Mosley, and 17 points and 15 rebounds from Brandon Cunningham.
