WAYNE, N.J. - William Paterson College (9-4) scored three goals in the first 8:01 of the game and posted a 3-0 victory over Union College (5-7) in a non-conference field hockey game at Wightman Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Pioneers grabbed a 1-0 win with 3:58 expired as senior Angelica Giammetta scored on a pass from Elizabeth Kerr off a penalty corner. Just 59 seconds later, Giammetta upped the lead to 2-0 when she scored off a loose ball in front of the cage.
Sophomore Carly Satter scored an unassisted goal with 8:01 elapsed to give the Pioneers a 3-0 lead.
For William Paterson, goalkeeper Meg Davies recorded the shutout and made two saves. The Pioneers outshot Union by a 7-5 margin. Union goalkeeper
Laura Aptowitz made four saves for the Dutchwomen.
The win was the Pioneers' sixth victory in a row.
The Dutchwomen return to action on Friday, Oct. 16 when they host William Smith College at 4:00 p.m.
