SCHENECTADY, NY- The Union College men's soccer team defeated Alfred University 2-1 at the Turf at College Park on Wednesday evening.
Alfred's Richard Lander scored first at the 8:07 mark after breaking away and taking a clean shot at the Union goal. The Dutchmen continued to battle as
Carl Faber was able to place a shot between the pipes to tie the score 1-1 to go into halftime.
Following halftime, both teams continued to battle hard (the teams combined for seven yellow cards). After about 18 minutes,
Andrew Fontaine lined up for a corner kick and placed it right to
Trevor Pauldine who forced it past the goalie for the game-winning goal and to go up 2-1.
The Dutchmen go on the road as they face RIT on Saturday, October 24 at 2 p.m.
