Dutchwomen Host RIT in Home Opener

SCHENECTADY, NY
-- The Union College women's ice hockey team hosts their home opener with a two-game series against Rochester Institute of Technology beginning on Friday Oct. 23 at 3 p.m., at Messa Rink.

Union on Home Games
This is the latest home opener for the Dutchwomen since the 2005-06 season when they opened against Clarkson at home on Oct. 29, 2005.  

Scouting the Tigers
RIT is led by senior Carly Payerl who has one goal and two assists this season. Junior Brooke Stoddart has made appearances in three of the five games, starting in two. She has 4.40 goals-against-average and with 61 saves and and a .859 save percentage. RIT is led by head coach Scott McDonald. McDonald enters his tenth  season with the Tigers. He led them to a College Hockey America champsionship last season as well as to a NCAA Division III championship in the 2011-2012 season.

Dutchwomen Goaltending Duo
Melissa Black has made three starts (against Minnesota State-Mankato, UConn and Penn State) making 35 or more saves each of the games. She has a 1.95 goals-against-average and has totaled 215:39 minutes in the goal. Leah Patrick has made two starts and has spent 94:03 minutes in the net.
