PITTSFORD,NY -- Union College's women's basketball team opened action at the Woodcliffe Hotel and Spa Invitational hosted by St. John Fisher. Union (2-0) beat Wells College, 82-59 as it had six players finish in double-digit scoring with three players netting double-doubles in the action. Wells drops to 3-3 on the season.
Leading the way for the Dutchwomen was Abby Katz as she finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She was joined by Natalie Leone, who also had a double-double with her 11 points and 10 caroms with a blocked shot. Erin Lyons tallied 10 rebounds with 10 points and had two blocked shots as Union combined for five blocks and limited Wells to a 33.3% shooting performance on 23-of-69 shooting from the floor.
Amy Fisher added 11 points with three steals and three assists, while Jenni Barra had 10 points in the match-up as she hit 5-of-8 shots from the floor and was part of an offense that combined to shot a cool 53.1% from the floor (34-64), while making 4-of-6 three-point attempts.
Wells got 12 points each from both Ashida Cooper and Holli Erkson, while Lindsay Achzet added 11 points with seven rebounds and three blocks for the Express in the loss.
Union returns to action on Sunday against the tournament hosts, St. John Fisher College at 2 p.m.
