CANTON, N.Y.—The Union College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision over St. Lawrence in the semifinals of the Liberty League tournament.
Goalkeeper
John Weitzman made five saves in the game, holding the Saints scoreless in the second half. The Dutchmen took nine corners collectively.
Union was able to start with a bang as the team scored first.
Andrew Fontaine took a shot which was saved and as it rebounded from Saint's goalie Ryan Roethel,
Carl Faber stepped up and slid it in from the six.Â
The Dutchmen were able to hold the 1-0 lead until 27 minute mark when St. Lawrence's Ryan Grant was able to force once past Weitzman. With three minutes left in the first half, SLU's Charlton Kelly made the game-winning goal off a corner kick from Morgan Smith.
Union ends the season with a 10-4-4 overall record, going 3-2-3 in conference play for their best finish since the 2012 season when they fell in the semifinals of the Liberty League tournament. The Dutchmen have averaged 10.75 wins per year. This is the last game for the senior class of Faber,
