SCHENECTADY, NY – Kaillee Heidersbach scored early in the second period and it held up as St. Lawrence won 2-1 at Union in an ECAC Hockey women's contest at Messa Rink Saturday. The Saints are 6-6-1 for the season and 3-1 in ECAC Hockey play, while the Dutchwomen are 0-7-4 and 0-2-2 in the league.

Melissa Black made 54 saves for Union, while Brooke Wolejko had 14 stops.
The Saints got on the board at 9:54 of the first. Kennedy Marchment had the puck from the left side and her shot led to a rebound for Brooke Webster, who scored her second of the season. Jenna Marks also assisted. Union tied it up at 1-1 with 2:48 remaining in the first period. Jaclyn Reeves passed behind the net to the left of the Saints goaltender, where

Jamie Smith in front for a one timer. It was Smith's second of the season. Black made 20 saves in the first period of play.
The Saints took the lead back just 1:12 into the second period. Kirsten Padalis took a shot from the point, and after the save, and after another stop the puck trickled out to Heidersbach, who notched her third of the year. Justin Reyes added an assist on the play. Black made 19 stops in the second.
Union had numerous chances for the tie in the third period. With 8:50 left in the third,
Emily Erickson had a chance that went just wide from close in front. Just 14 seconds later, a one timer by
Kathryn Davis was stopped with a big save by Wolejko. Union pulled Black with 1:49 left but could not tie it up.
Union is on the road next week with ECAC Hockey games at Harvard Friday at 7 p.m. and at Dartmouth Saturday at 4 p.m.
