COBLESKILL, NY -- The Union College women's basketball team won for the second straight night and improved to 4-1 with a 49-29 victory at SUNY Cobleskill's Iorio Gymnasium Thursday. The Fighting Tigers fell to 1-4.
Amy Fisher led a balanced attack with 11 points and
Abby Katz had seven rebounds along with eight points. Freshman
Sophie Borg scored eight points and
Erin Lyons had three steals and three assists.Â
The visiting Dutchwomen opened the contest on a 13-0 run and never looked back as they held the home team to only 11-for-52, 21.2%, from the floor on the evening to secure the victory.Union shot 39% and won despite only going to the free throw line seven times for the game. The Dutchwomen had 12 steals. Katz made four of her eight shots.
Cobleskill was led in scoring by junior guard Shiann Coons, who tallied 11 points on the evening while junior forward Shelby Preston had eight points to go with a game high of 18 rebounds.The Dutchwomen are idle until December 12, when they host the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 12 p.m. at the Viniar Athletic Center.
