UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's basketball team remained undefeated at home as it topped visiting Union College 64-60 in non-conference action Wednesday evening at the Harold T. Clark Gymnasium.
Utica moves to 5-0 on its home court and 5-4 overall as the Pioneers handed the Dutchwomen just their second loss of the season and Union is now 5-2.
Senior Mary Miceli sunk a game-high five three-pointers, while sophomore
Alaina Tripp tallied her first career double-double to pace the Pioneers. Miceli finished with 18 points, three assists, and three steals to lead the way. Tripp totaled 10 points and added ten rebounds, including six off the offensive glass in 27 minutes of action.
Freshman
Sophie Borg led Union with career highs of 13 points and seven rebounds. She led Union in scoring and joined
Abby Katz with a team high in rebounds. Borg also had three steals and two blocks.
Jenni Barra and
Amy Fisher had 11 points each for the Dutchwomen.
Ashelyne Babb and Ashley Mayo also helped out as each scored in the double digits. Babb finished with 14 points, six boards, and three dishes off the bench, while Mayo totaled 10 points and three steals.
Utica shot 41 percent from behind the arc. The Pioneers shot 76 percent, while Union was 14-for-20 (70%) from the line.
Union hosts Clarkson for a Liberty League game Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Viniar Athletic Center.
