ALBANY, NY- The Union College women's basketball team saw its' season-high four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night, falling to The Sage Colleges on the road 58-44, in a non-conference matchup.
Natalie Leone scored a team-high 12 points for the Dutchwomen, adding five rebounds and four assists.
Kate Thompson pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds with six points and four blocks.
Megan Bowman netted 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting for the Gators to lead both teams. Bowman dished out six assists to go along with five steals. Genevieve Schoff and Frankie Pearson both scored nine points a piece for Sage.
Meghan Erdman made a layup 53 seconds into the game to give Union a 2-0 lead but that would be the only lead of the ballgame for the "U" as Sage used a 28-11 run over the next 10:29 minutes to give the Gators their largest lead of the first half, 28-13, with 8:38 remaining. The Dutchwomen were able to cut the deficit to six, 28-22, with a mini 9-0 run before heading into the break at 34-26. Six points was the closest the Garnet and White could get within as Sage increased its' lead to as many as 17 in the second half en route to the 14-point victory.
Union shot just 32.0% from the field, including a 2-for-11 mark from three point land and turned the ball over 24 times in the defeat. Sage was 23-of-55 (41.8%), forcing 12 steals on the night.
The Dutchwomen will return to Liberty League action this Friday night as they host Clarkson at the Viniar Athletic Center. The opening tip-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
