Union Falls to Rochester at Liberty League Tournament

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The third time was not a charm for Union.  

Facing its third elimination game in two days, Union's valiant effort for a Liberty League title came up short in a 5-0 loss to top-seed Rochester at Southside Field Saturday morning.

Rochester did most of its damage in the bottom first, behind a two-out double by Gabriela Alatorre, which brought two runs home.  Jocelynn Blackshear pushed across a third run in the inning with a double. Rochester added two insurance runs in the fifth on a double by Jocelynn Blackshear.

Brittany Grage held Union to four hits, not allowing any baserunners past second base. Union's biggest threat of the game occurred in the top fifth, when Lindsay Cohen and Brianna Godlewski strung together back-to-back hits with two outs.  A strikeout, however, left them stranded on base.

Seniors Allyson Staats, Lindsay Cohen and Camille Corbin were named to the Liberty League All-Tournament team. Union, which won four of its last six games, finishes the season with a 15-20 record.
