On Friday, January 29 the Dutchwomen will face Cornell, while on Saturday, January 30 the Union will take on Colgate in the 9th annual Pink at the Rink Game.
What's On TapThe Dutchwomen are in search of their first win of the season as they tied to Brown on January 23. Cornell is looking to bounce back and add another victory after falling to St. Lawrence on Jan. 23. Colgate looks add another win after falling to No. 5 Clarkson 2-3 on January 23.
Pink at the RinkJanuary 30th marks the 9th annual Pink at the Rink Game. The Dutchwomen are dedicating their 2016 Pink at the Rink Game to Kristen's Kause, supporting Union Hockey fan Kristen Shinebarger in her ongoing recovery from Ewing's Sarcoma. The Dutchwomen will sport pink jerseys, laces, socks, wristbands for the game and the team ask all people coming to the game to please wear pink to show their support. The team will also be selling pink related items throughout the week on the Union College campus.
Melissa "The Cat" BlackMelissa Black ranks first in saves in the NCAA with 842. She also ranks first in the ECAC with 494 saves. Black ranks tenth in save percentage in the NCAA, as well as fifth in the ECAC. Black collected her 750th save on the season against RPI. Currently, she has 842 saves in 1365:39 minutes between the posts. She averages 32.38 saves per game, only allowing 59 goals.
Scouting the Big RedCornell has a 8-9-4 record this season (4-6-4 in ECAC play). Hanna Bunton leads the team with 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) followed by Jess Brown with 15 points (9-6-15) and Kaitlin Doering (5-10-15). Goaltender Paula Voorheis has a 2.42 goals-against-average and a .910 save percentage, with a 5-7-3 record.
Scouting the RaidersColgate has a 14-5-7 record this season (6-3-5 in ECAC play). Bailey Larson leads the team with 26 points (10 goal, 16 assists) followed by Breanne Wilson-Bennett (10-10-20) and Shae Labbe (10-10-20). Netminder Julia Vandyk has a 2.03 goals-against-average and a .921 save percentage and posts a 9-1-3 record. Goaltender Ashlynne Rando has made appearances in 13 games, has a 2.45 goals-against-average, a .910 save percentage and a 5-4-4 record.
