SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - The last game of the regular season provided some late drama for the Union College men's soccer team.
With 17 seconds remaining in the game and the game knotted at 2-2,
Andrew Fontaine lined up for a corner kick. He swung it in and it found the head of the tallest player on the field as 6-foot-5 defender
Kienan Smith found the ball in the box and buried the game winner as the clocked ticked down.
Just minutes before in the 84th minute, Union trailed the Thoroughbreds 2-1 when
Vincent Oliveto battled through traffic in the box and fired off a shot. The ball took a deflection off of the defender and Skidmore keeper Derrick Yam had no chance of react as the ball found twine to make it 2-2 late on.
It was in the 82nd minute that the Thoroughbreds took the lead as a nice lead pass from Austin Okoye found the feet of Kevin Santos who slotted it past Union goaltender
John Weitzman. Weitzman made four saves in the victory over Skidmore.
The first goal for the Dutchmen came in 59th minute as Fontaine notched his sixth goal of the season as he curled one high past Yam.
Union finished the season with a record of 10-6-1 (3-4-1 Liberty League) placing sixth in the conference standings.
