CANTON, NY - The Union College women's hockey team lost to No. 4/4 St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY Saturday afternoon.
The Saints jumped out to a two goal lead after the first period as Kalie Grant beat Union goalie
Kate Spooner at the 11:16 mark. Brooke Webster would add another less than a minute later to make it 2-0 St. Lawrence.
It would stretch the lead to 3-0 at the 3:43 mark of the second period as Kirsten Padalis found the back of the net on the powerplay.
The final goal for the nationally ranked Saints came with just seconds remaining in the third period as Justine Reyes made it 4-0 with 18 seconds left on the clock.
Spooner made 28 saves in the losing effort while
Katelynn Russ and
Haley Shugart lead the team with four shots on goal a peice.
Abby Ellis,
Arianna Kosakowski and
Brandy Streeter each had two blocks defensively for the Dutchwomen.
Union is back on the ice in two weeks when it hosts Quinnipiac and Princeton at Messa Rink on Dec. 2-3. Friday's tilt is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. while Saturday's matchup is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
