No. 12 Dutchmen Drop Double Overtime Decision to No. 19 Endicott

SCHENECTADY, NY—The No. 12 Union College men's lacrosse team fell to No. 19 Endicott College 13-12 in double overtime on Wednesday evening at Frank Bailey Field.
 
In the first quarter, Endicott punched a goal in early, but senior captain Nolan Stauffer tied it up. The Gulls tallied two more goals before Stauffer closed the gap to make it 2-3 entering the second quarter.
 
30 seconds in the second period, Stauffer posted his third goal of the game to tie it up at 3. Daniel Kycia found the back of the net on a Jack Scheufele assist to put Union up 4-3.  A minute later Will Jennings of Endicott tied it up again. Lance Lonergan Jr., and Paul Alberti scored their first goal of the year.  Endicott tallied three late goals to enter half time up 7-6.  
 
The Gulls posted a early goal in the beginning of the third period, but Union's senior captain Thomas Stanton scored off a Stauffer assist. Endicott scored one other goal to end the third, 9-7.
 
The Dutchmen outscored the Gulls 5-3 in the fourth quarter. Union's five goals were scored by four different players. Kycia, Alberti, Cam Slatton and Adam Johnson all contributed goals.
 
The two teams stayed tied at 12-12 for the remainer of the fourth quarter and through the entire first overtime. With 1:21 left on the clock in the second overtime, Peter Field Jr., found the back of the net off a Colin Bannon assist.
 
Union led Endicott 42-35 on shots, but the Gulls led the Dutchmen 27-26 in groundballs and 21-7 in faceoff wins. Union's Sam Bebout made 12 saves in goal, while Cameron Bell made 10. Both teams went 100 percent for clears. Endicott tallied 23 turnovers, while Union posted 10.
 
The Dutchmen travel to Babson for a weekend game on Saturday, March 5 at 12 p.m. in Babson Park, Mass.
