AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Union College baseball team outscored Fredonia 20-4 in a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday afternoon in Auburndale, Fla. The Dutchmen improve to 3-3, while the Devils go to 8-6.

In the first game, Union's Ryan Kuchar proved to be nearly unhittable, pitching a three-hit complete game shutout. Kuchar struck out seven batters and surrendered just two walks over seven innings.

Kent Curran broke a scoreless tie with an RBI triple in the third and the Dutchmen added the game's final two runs in the fourth on a Joe Ganim RBI single and a Tim Curtis sacrifice fly.

Ganim and Mike Fitzsimmons each went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

In the night cap, the Dutchmen got out of the gate quickly, scoring two runs in the top of the first. Jake Fishman tripled, plating Jake Vesling, and Curran drove in Fishman with a single in the next at-bat.

Fredonia cut its lead in half in the bottom half of the inning, but Union struck again with three runs in the top of the second. Curran delivered a two-run single and Eric Egan added an RBI with a single.

Wiley Knight extended the Dutchmen lead to 6-1 with a sacrifice fly in the top of the third, but the Devils answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning on back-to-back-to-back RBI singles from Michael Prentice, Kevin Yirinec and Dan Cecilia.

Union regained breathing room with two runs in the top of the fourth, including Curran's fourth RBI of the day on a sacrifice fly. Jordan Whaley and Jamie Faber combined for three scoreless innings on the mound and the Dutchmen piled on nine runs in the top of the seventh to cruise to the 17-4 win.
