#20 Union downs Bard on Senior Day, 13-1

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Cailin Pandolfi scored three goals and Jacqueline Zannos had a goal and three assists as the #20 Union College women's lacrosse team defeated Bard College, 13-1 Saturday on Senior Day at Frank Bailey Field. Bard finished the season 4-12 overall and 0-9 in the Liberty League.

Union, which finished the regular season with an 8-1 Liberty League record and is 11-4 overall, tied for first but lost the tie breaker to William Smith. The Dutchwomen will play Friday, May 6 vs. Skidmore at William Smith at 5:00 p.m. in the Liberty League Semifinals in Geneva, NY. The Championship Game will be Saturday, May 7 at 3:30 p.m. in Geneva. Union won at Skidmore April 2, 8-7.

Union outshot Bard, 28-6 and made eight of nine clears while forcing Bard to make three of 10 clear attempts. Union forced 21 turnovers and had 17 ground balls to the Knights' 16. A total of 10 different Dutchwomen scored one goal each. Jessica Farland had three ground balls and Kate Kurchena recorded three draw controls. Jen Hughes made one save in the first half for Union and Hallie Stone stopped two in the second half.

Bard scored their lone goal by Nicole Ellin. She led the Raptors with four ground balls and three draw controls along with two caused turnovers. Kaylynn Tran stopped six shots for Bard.

Union scored the first 10 goals of the game, and led 9-0 at halftime. Pandolfi's three goals came in the first half. Other goal scorers for Union were seniors Laura Pacheco, Jessica Farland and Maggie Comiskey, as well as Jackie Hagopian, Maddie Lewis, Ramsey Walsh, Natalie Sullivan, Julia Pfohl and Kurchena.

Seniors honored for Union prior to their final home game were Ashley Allington, Madison Caron, Paige Smith, Comiskey, Farland, Kurchena and Pacheco.
