William Paterson wins 2-0

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Brianna Reyes and Michaela Meillier scored second half goals to give the William Paterson field hockey team a 2-0 non-league win at Union College's Frank Bailey Field Wednesday night. The Pioneers are now 5-4 while the Dutchwomen are 3-5.

William Paterson had a 13-10 shot advantage and also had 11 corners while the Dutchwomen had five. Mallory Rickerhauser made three saves in the shutout victory. Laura Aptowitz stopped eight for the Dutchwomen.

The Pioneers had an 8-2 shot advantage at halftime but the game was scoreless. At 44:30, Reyes scored her first of the year for a 1-0 William Paterson lead. Courtney Allen had a shot from the left side of the net from around 10 yards out, and it was tipped in by Reyes. Meillier tallied at 60:43 with an unassisted goal. She was close in front and gave the guests insurance with her third of the season.

Carly Satter had a game high four shots, all on net, for William Paterson. Charlotte Leyland had three shots, one on net, for the Dutchwomen.

Union returns to Liberty League play Saturday for a 1 p.m. game at Skidmore.
