SCHENECTADY, NY -- A total of 12 players scored in a balanced attack as the Union College women's basketball team defeated Bard College, 69-24 in a Liberty League contest at the Viniar Athletic Center Friday night. The Dutchwomen are now even at 7-7 and also even in the league at 3-3, while the Raptors fell to 0-14 and 0-6 in league play.
Natalie Leone scored a game high 10 points and
Nicole Conley scored nine, while everyone on the team played for Union.
Erin Lyons had eight points along with
Sophie Borg and freshman
Alexa Morin and freshman
Joana Santos scored seven with five rebounds, joining Conley and Borg with the five boards. Morin tied her career points high and freshman
Joana Santos had a season high seven points with three assists. Union shot 47% and had a 48-30 rebounding advantage while also forcing 20 turnovers and no Dutchwoman played more then 20 minutes.
Bard was led by Caliegh DeCaprio's eight points and Jade Waring's game best seven rebounds. Bard shot 16% for the game, a season best defensive effort by the hosts.
Union jumped out to an 11-3 lead with 5:33 left in the first and led 17-5 after the first. The Dutchwomen had a 20 point lead at the half, 32-12 and led by as many as 38 in the third quarter before heading into the fourth with a 53-17 lead. The largest lead was 46 at 62-23 with 2:33 to play.
The Dutchwomen play at arch rival RPI Saturday at 2 p.m.
