SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Hobart College in their penultimate home game of the 2017-18 season.
The Dutchmen came out strong, early on in the game, as
Jason Miller would score his second goal of the season in the 19
th minute of the game. However, for the Dutch, this would be their only strike of the evening.
Hobart responded less than ten minutes later when Statesman Hunter Critchlow headed in a ball off of a free kick. With three minutes to go in the first half, Hobart's Adrian Colmenares would earn himself a penalty kick and take full advantage of the opportunity. Hobart would go up 2-1 just in time for halftime.
In the 86
th minute, Hobart would seal the win when Derrick Acheampong snuck a shot into the back of the net to make it 3-1.
Griffin Cowles had the assist on Miller's goal, and goalkeeper
John Weitzman had five saves on the day. Both Hobart and Union had 13 shots a piece.
The Dutchmen return to action tomorrow afternoon for their last home game of the season. Union is playing Ithaca College at 2 p.m.and will honor their seven graduating seniors for Senior Day.
