SCHENECTADY, NY -- Jessica Glaz scored 24 points and Sydney Frank added 15 with nine rebounds to lead the Rochester Institute of Technology to an 80-50 Liberty League victory at Union College's Viniar Athletic Center Tuesday night. The Tigers are now 8-6 in the league and 15-8 overall while the Dutchwomen fell to 7-5 in league play, 11-9 for the season.
Glaz scored her 1,000th career point with a three-pointer with 8:32 left in the fourth for the Tigers. Taylor Burns scored 21 and Tara Lynch added eight while the Tigers outrebounded the Dutchwomen, 44-34. RIT shot 47% and made an amazing 10 of 13 shots in the third quarter, shooting 77%.
Union was led by
Nicole Conley's 14 points and
Sophie Borg had 12. Borg led Union with seven rebounds and
Alexa Morin had six boards. Union shot 32% for the game. Conley's 14 points tied her career high, she had scored that many twice previously.
The Tigers jumped out quickly and took a 14-2 lead with 5:47 left in the first period, led by five points from Lynch. They took an 18-5 lead with 2:40 left and took a 25-10 lead into the first break.
RIT had a 17 point lead at 30-12 with 9:05 left in the first half after a jumper by Ashlynn Palmitesso. But Union got hot and went on a 11-0 run to pull to within seven at 30-23 with 4:02 left.
Nicole Conley nailed two three pointers in that run and Borg scored five points. It was 37-27 RIT at halftime.
The Tigers outscored the Dutchwomen 31-16 during their torrid third quarter, leading by 25 after the third at 68-43. The largest lead was 31 at 77-46 with 4:53 to play.
Union is back in action home Friday night against local league rival RPI at 6 p.m.
