ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.--The Union College baseball team outscored Bard 13-1 to claim the first two games of a four-game Liberty League series, Saturday afternoon at Honey Field. The Dutchmen rallied for a 2-1 come-from-behind win in game one and cruised to a 12-0 win in game two.

Union (14-10, 9-5 Liberty League) starting pitcher Jake Vesling allowed just one run on six hits, while striking out seven and walking one in a complete game win in game one.

Bard (8-18, 3-11 Liberty League) starter Evan Richardson was tagged with the loss, scattering two runs (one earned) on five hits with one walk and 12 strikeouts over six and one-third innings.

Sophomore outfielder Joe Ganim was 2-for-2 with a run scored and first-year infielder Sean Cullen added a multiple hit game, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Raptors broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third when Preston Gittelson delivered an RBI single to center field.

The pitchers' duel continued until the top of the seventh, when the Dutchmen finally got on the board. Cullen ripped a leadoff double to right-center field and advanced to third on Ganim's bunt single. First-year Colin Kelly produced Union's first run with a sacrifice fly and Ganim stole second and third before scoring on a throwing error to make it 2-1.

Vesling struck out two and forced a ground out in the bottom of the seventh, sealing the win to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Union's dominant pitching continued in game two, as starter Ryan Kuchar pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five and walking one. Greg Dougherty tossed two shutout innings in relief with four strikeouts and no walks.

First-year Matt Catalfo had a career-high four hits, going 4-for-5 with two runs scored. Cullen was 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored, senior Kent Curran was 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored, Anthony Amoroso was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI and junior Andy Labeck was 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

Curran put Union in front in the top of the first with an RBI groundout. After three scoreless innings, Curran extended the lead to 3-0 with a two-run double down the right field line. Labeck made it 4-0 two batters later, plating Curran with a sacrifice fly to right.

The Dutchmen continued to build on the momentum in the sixth, adding four runs. Amoroso drove in Kelly and Catalfo with an RBI triple to right and scored on a Vesling double down the right field line. Cullen added a two-out RBI single to left to extend the lead to 8-0.

Union pulled tacked on four more runs in the top of the eighth to pull away for the 12-0 win. Cullen picked up his second RBI of the game with an RBI single to center. Kelly drew a bases-loaded walk three batters later and Nate Olson had an RBI infield single. Jack Myers gave Union its final run of the game with an RBI single for the 12-0 final.
