ITHACA, NY - The Union College women's basketball team dropped to 1-2 in league play, following an 84-44 loss to Ithaca College this evening.
Despite the score, the Dutchwomen shot 44 percent on the night, making 11 of 25 baskets, and four of nine from behind the arc. First year Corina Lindsay led the Dutch, totaling 10 points in the match up and making two out of three three-pointers. On the season, Lindsay has a .429 three-point field goal percentage and has the second most three's on the team with 12, behind senior Jenni Barra (17).
Although the Dutchwomen shot a second-best percentage for the season tonight, the Bombers controlled the momentum of the game through 40 minutes of play. Ithaca held a lead over the Dutch for the entire game, and were able to score 39 points off of Union's 43 turnovers. The Bombers also drained 17 second-chance points, compared to none for the Dutchwomen.
Kolby McKenzie contributed nine points and two assists in tonight's game and Elly Vaughan tallied two steals.
With a quick turnaround, the Dutchwomen return to action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. to take on the Skidmore Thoroughbreds in Saratoga Springs.
